Srinagar, Apr 09 (KNO): Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, J&K Police apprehended three drug peddlers in two separate incidents under the jurisdiction of Police Post Watergam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), during naka checking at Hadipora, Rafiabad, a suspicious individual was intercepted and apprehended. Upon personal search, poppy straw-like substance was recovered and seized as per due procedure. The accused has been identified as Qamar Ali, son of Mohammad Ali Bhat, resident of Chanderkote Ramban. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 25/2026 under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha.
Moreover, during naka checking at Tragpora–Rohama Road, two suspicious persons were intercepted and apprehended. Upon their search, charas-like substance was recovered and seized as per due procedure. The accused have been identified as Mursaleen Shafi, son of Mohammad Shafi Yatoo and Ali Mohammad Yatoo, son of Ghulam Mohammad Yatoo, both residents of Chijhama Rafiabad. In this regard, FIR No. 26/2026 under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha. Further investigation in both cases is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
